Henkel to open new adhesives factory in Mexico

Latest: Henkel is expanding its production capacity in Mexico, opening a new state-of-the-art hot melt adhesive factory in Guadalupe, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. The new factory covers an area of ​​nearly 30,000 square meters and is mainly used for the production of pressure-sensitive and non-pressure-sensitive hotmelts under the leading Technomelt brand. The product range includes Henkel’s high-performance SUPRA portfolio (designed for effective bonding of substrates under extreme conditions) and Henkel’s COOL portfolio (lower melting point compared to conventional hot melt adhesives: 100°C to 120°C between).

These hot melt adhesives are used in food, beverage and personal care products in the consumer and packaging industries; and include applications such as case and carton sealing, bottle labels, heat seals, self-adhesive labels, bookbinding, adult and baby diapers, and feminine hygiene.

The facility will also manufacture Easyflow-branded hot melt adhesives. This Henkel patented technology is designed to increase production line efficiency, minimize material handling, and provide customers with a better value proposition, including improved safety, performance, yield and energy savings.

Contribution to Sustainability

In line with Henkel’s sustainability strategy, the new factory is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, enabling carbon-efficient processes and reducing the factory’s environmental impact; it is also illuminated with outdoor solar lights and indoor LED technology.

In addition, the Administration Building facility has achieved LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

Some of these benefits include

– Reduce water consumption by up to 40% in employee facilities.

– Over 90% of the office area has outdoor landscaping, improving employee welfare.

– Reduce power consumption by up to 25%.

– Implement dedicated recycling for cardboard, paper, plastic and wood.

– The factory is also ISO 9001, 45001 and 14001 certified and operates an advanced process control system, automatic raw material addition system and other features to create a safe working environment.
