Guangxi Huayi plans to build a 300,000-ton PBAT project and a supporting 200,000-ton BDO project

Latest News: On August 22, the environmental impact assessment information published on the Qinzhou Municipal Government website showed that Guangxi Huayi New Materials Co., Ltd. plans to build a 300,000-ton/year biodegradable material PBAT project, with supporting 1,4-Butanediol (BDO) project.

In recent years, PBAT, PBS, PBST
Biodegradable plastics have attracted much market attention and ushered in a new round of development opportunities. To this end, Guangxi Huayi New Materials Co., Ltd. strategically deploys the degradable plastics industry, and plans to build a PBAT project in the Petrochemical Industrial Park of Qinzhou Port Economic and Technological Development Zone, Qinzhou City, of which the first phase is 60,000 tons/year, and the second phase is 240,000 tons. tons/year. The total investment of the project is about 1.992 billion yuan, of which the construction period of the first phase is 24 months, and it is expected to be put into operation in December 2025; the construction period of the second phase is 24 months, and it is expected to be put into production in November 2029.

BDO uses n-butane oxidation to produce maleic anhydride, and then uses maleic anhydride + methanol esterification and hydrogenation to produce 1,4-butanediol, which is one of the main production raw materials of the PBAT project.

The construction scale of the project is 320,000 tons/year of maleic anhydride and 200,000 tons/year of 1,4-butanediol, which will be constructed in two phases. The scales of the first and second phases are both 160,000 tons/year of maleic anhydride and 100,000 tons/year of 1,4-butanediol.
