450,000 tons of PDH was approved for trial production! Wanda Petrochemical realizes C3 industrial chain layout
Latest News: On August 4th, Tianhong Company of Wanda Petrochemical Group received the “Notice for the Recordation of Trial Production (Use) Plan of Hazardous Chemical Construction Projects” issued by the Emergency Management Bureau of Dongying Port Economic Development Zone , confirmed the approval of the trial production (use) of the 450,000-ton/year propane dehydrogenation project for the record, marking that the project has entered the trial production stage.
The 450,000-ton/year propane dehydrogenation project is a key project that promotes the extension of petrochemicals to high-end fine chemicals in accordance with the group company’s “petrochemical-rubber integration” development strategy to further “extend the chain, supplement the chain, and strengthen the chain”. The process technology is advanced and reliable, and the device energy consumption is low. It has been included in the second batch of preferred projects in the province’s new and old kinetic energy conversion major project library.
The 450,000-ton/year PDH project uses propane produced by itself and surrounding enterprises to produce polymer-grade propylene, and by-produce high-quality hydrogen. The technical process package is purchased from UOP in the United States and is the third generation of Oleflex
PDH technology. The total investment of the project is 1.5 billion yuan.
The product propylene partition wall is piped to Shandong Keluer Chemical Co., Ltd., a joint venture between Wanda Group and Sinopec, for the production of acrylonitrile, and the by-product hydrogen can provide hydrogen source for the company’s hydrogenation unit. Relying on existing facilities, public works installations can save more than 30% of project investment. After the project is put into operation, it can increase sales revenue by more than 3 billion yuan and increase profits and taxes by more than 1 billion yuan. The implementation of the project will improve the propane, propylene, acrylonitrile, methyl methacrylate, polymethyl methacrylate-C3 industrial chain of Wanda Group. Effectively promote the company’s transformation from fuel-based petrochemicals to high-end fine chemicals.
Then, Wanda Petrochemical Group realized the C3 industrial chain layout through Tianhong Chemical’s PDH project, Keluer Chemical’s acrylonitrile project and Hongxu Chemical’s MMA project.
Korul Chemical – Acrylonitrile Project
On October 30, 2021, the second phase of the 260,000-ton/year acrylonitrile project of Shandong Keluer Chemical Co., Ltd. was put into operation. The acrylonitrile plant adopts the advanced technology of propylene ammoxidation method independently developed by Sinopec. The main product, acrylonitrile, can be used to manufacture acrylic fiber, acrylamide, ABS resin, nitrile rubber, adiponitrile, etc. In other organic synthesis and pharmaceutical industry, it is widely used and has broad prospects. The first phase of the project has a total investment of 1.572 billion yuan and a production capacity of 130,000 tons per year. It was successfully started on December 2, 2014 and produced qualified products. The total production capacity of the second phase of the project is also 130,000 tons/year, with a total investment of 1.252 billion yuan. Construction started on May 22, 2020, and the project will be handed over on August 31, 2021.
Hongxu Chemical – MMA Project
On November 19, 2014, the 100,000-ton/year MMA project of Shandong Hongxu Chemical Co., Ltd. was put into operation. The project is located in Shandong Dongying Port Economic Development Zone. The ACH method is adopted. The total investment of the project is 1.6 billion yuan, covering an area of more than 130 acres. Construction started in April 2013. The main product, methyl methacrylate (MMA), is an important organic chemical raw material. The purity of MMA product reaches 99.99%. It is mainly used for the production of plexiglass, PVC additives, toluene-benzene methacrylate Ethylene-butadiene copolymer, ion exchange resin, pour point depressant, etc. After the project is completed and put into operation, the annual sales income will be 1.96 billion yuan, and the profit and tax will be 420 million yuan.
