Method of making:
Bis(dimethylaminoethyl) ether can be obtained by dehydrogenation of dimethylethanol and dimethylamino-2-chloroethane.

Bis(dimethylaminoethyl) ether is one of the important amine catalysts in the polyurethane industry. Bis(dimethylaminoethyl) ether has extremely high catalytic activity and selectivity for the foaming reaction. The pure product has high activity. People use glycol to dilute it into a solution.

A-1 catalyst is a mixture of 70% bis(dimethylaminoethyl) ether and 30% dipropylene glycol (DPG) catalyst.
